Multifaith Outreach Webinar

Creative Community Leadership During the Covid 19 Crisis

Covid-19 is unique in many ways. Beyond the medical challenges, it has forced us to address unprecedented tests to our physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. This is the case regardless of where you live, whether it's in the United States, Israel or another country.

In response, faith and community leaders have been called upon to help constituents grappling with the crisis, conveying empathy, comfort and a new sense of community.

In this webinar, we are presenting leading Chicago-based faith and community leaders who will share how their tradition informs their actions to not only to support their respective communities but to enhance relationships and service to their neighbors. The Consulate General of Israel in Chicago will participate and share how similar concerns are addressed across communities in Israel.

This panel will explore the toll the pandemic is leaving in its wake, and the innovative ways community leaders have pivoted to address the needs of their congregants and constituencies, from the pews to the food pantries.

The session will explore:

From Contempt to Comrades: Tracing the Amazing Transformation of Catholic-Jewish Relations

Jews and Christians this year are celebrating their respective sacred springtime holy days of Passover and Easter in the midst of a plague of biblical proportions.

As COVID-19 calls for us to work even more closely together to make it through, we are reminded to reflect on the amazing journey both faiths are on together – coming from nearly 2,000 years of hatred and contempt to the positive trajectory of the last 50 years.

Today, we continue to build bonds of understanding, education and friendship between the Jewish people and Israel and the Catholic Church.

Join us to hear from two of the world’s leading experts leading the path towards a deeper positive relationship between Jews and Catholics, which in turn, serves as a historic model for improving multi-faith relations around the globe.

Climbing God’s Mountains:Building bonds between Israel, the Jewish People and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Jewish community have for more than a decade worked steadily and quietly to increase understanding and foster cooperation between the two minority faith communities and the State of Israel.

The America-Israel Friendship League, the Consulate General of Israel in New York, and the New York Board of Rabbis have led these efforts to build a positive relationship with The Church through education, dialogue and exploring areas of multifaith cooperation.

At this critical time in the history of America and the world, as we unite to battle the worst global pandemic in a century, we are pleased; to bring together key leaders to discuss the importance of this remarkable initiative and seek new ways to assist each other at this time of crisis.
