Dog Days of Summer: Israel’s Hebrew Speaking Guide Dogs

International Dog Day is celebrated around the world on August 26. In addition to many of us being part of the “Dog Lovers Club”, we want to share this distinctly Israeli story about how man’s best friend has come to provide enhanced quality of life and service to blind individuals throughout Israel.

The establishment of the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind was no easy feat, and it took two men with tenacious determination--and the help of many others--to make this dream a reality.

The panel will discuss a range of topics including these questions:

  • What’s the difference between a guide dog in the United States and a guide dog in Israel, and why is it important to have a school for guide dogs in Israel?
  • What happens to dogs that do not complete the guide dog training program?
  • How long does it take to train a guide dog, and what is the process?
  • How do you match a guide dog with a client?

Streamed live, the program will feature:

Michael Leventhal
Executive Director USA
Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind

Dani Layani
War Hero and client of the Israel Guide Dog Center for the Blind

Noach Braun
CEO & Co-Founder
