The America-Israel Friendship League held its annual Partners for Democracy Award Dinner at the Pierre in New York on Monday, November 12th. The award recognizes the professional and personal contributions made by the honorees that advance and strengthen USA-Israeli relations. More than 400 guests came to honor Lev Leviev, Nechemia (Chemi) J. Peres and William R. Rhodes.
Connecticut Senator Joseph Lieberman and U.S. Senate Minority Leader, Sen. Mitch McConnell spoke at the ceremony in support of the AIFL and joined in honoring the award winners as part of their ongoing advocacy for strong US-Israel relations.
Other Speakers included: Amb. Dan Gillerman, Permanent Representative of Israel to the United Nations; Hon. Jack Kemp, Former Secretary of HUD. Hon. Lawrence Wasden, Attorney General, State of Idaho and Amb. Asaf Shariv, Consul General of Israel in New York.
