AMERICA - ISRAEL FRIENDSHIP LEAGUE SUPPORTS 2010 FIRST ROBOTICS CHAMPIONSHIP
New York, NY… April 19, 2010: For the fifth consecutive year, the America-Israel Friendship League (AIFL) is a proud supporter of the FIRST Robotics Championship, which was held this past weekend in Atlanta. The goal of FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is to motivate students to be curious and interested in science, technology, and engineering.
The League’s longtime board member and supporter Josh S. Weston has been a leading force behind the FIRST annual competition, which attracted more than 200,000 young people representing 3000 teams from 30 countries, including 150 for Israel. Israeli teams won two special awards this year.
“With AIFL’s continued support, this competition helps motivate and promote the next generation of innovators in Israel and in the United States. The ongoing symbiotic relationships between American and Israeli engineers and technology leaders are yet another example of the spirit of innovation that symbolizes these two great democracies,“ said Weston.
The America-Israel Friendship League’s (AIFL) mission is to strengthen the ties between the people of the United States and Israel; bridging distances to reveal the beauty, the humanity, and the modern democratic values that define both nations.
