    1939
1939 The British White Paper abandons the mandate plan, which sharply limits Jewish immigration and rights in Palestine, and promises the Arabs another state in the region.

1939, 1943 and 1944 Resolutions in support of a Jewish National Homeland in Palestine are adopted by the legislatures of 19 states and endorsed by 28 governors. In 1944 the U.S. Congress unanimously passes a similar joint resolution, “Reconstitution of Palestine as a free and democratic Jewish Commonwealth.”
