In response to newspaper stories and eyewitness accounts of persecution of Jews in Russia, a group of 413 leading American Christian clergymen, businessmen, and journalists present a petition to President Benjamin Harrison requesting a conference of world leaders to press the Sultan of Turkey to “give Palestine back to the Jews again.”
